Analytics and Scheduling stay off until you allow them. You can change your choice any time.
This page explains the cookies and local storage used on geosln.com and geosln-api.com, and how to control them. It supplements our Privacy Policy.
Essential (always on)
These make the sites work and aren’t used for tracking.
- Both sites: one local storage entry remembers your cookie choices, and another remembers your light/dark theme. Links between the two sites carry that theme choice in the address (light, dark or system), so the other site opens the same way.
- geosln-api.com, when you sign in: a session cookie keeps you signed in (it expires after 24 hours), and a security cookie protects forms against forged requests.
- geosln-api.com, Buy Credits and checkout: Stripe sets its own fraud-prevention cookies to process payments safely; see Stripe’s cookie policy.
- Sign in with Google (optional): you’re taken to Google, which uses its own cookies; see Google’s cookie policy.
Analytics (off until you allow it)
We use PostHog (Cloud, US region) to understand which pages are useful and where visitors run into trouble. Once you allow it, PostHog stores an identifier in a cookie and local storage (ph_<project>_posthog, kept for one year) to distinguish sessions and devices, and records session replays so we can see how pages are used. Anything you type into a form is hidden from replays, and on signed-in pages all text is hidden.
The same PostHog project is used on both sites, so when you follow a link from geosln.com to geosln-api.com, your visit continues as the same visitor there. Requests are proxied through /metrics-api on each site rather than going directly to a third-party domain, but the data is processed by PostHog as our analytics provider. Each site asks for your choice separately.
Scheduling: Calendly (geosln.com, off until you allow it)
The booking calendar on our Consulting page is provided by Calendly. Calendly sets its own cookies (on calendly.com) to run the scheduler, remember your time zone, and for its own security and analytics; see Calendly’s privacy notice (“Your Rights and Choices” covers its cookies). The calendar doesn’t load, and Calendly receives nothing, until you allow Scheduling in the cookie banner or click Show available times (which records that choice). You can also book on calendly.com directly instead.
Map tiles (geosln-api.com)
The background map comes from OpenStreetMap’s tile servers. They set no cookies, but like any website they receive your IP address when the map loads, and your browser may keep map tiles you’ve viewed in its cache, like any image; see the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy.
Your choice
Analytics and Scheduling are each off until you allow them in the cookie banner (Accept all, Reject all, or Customize to pick). You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings in either site’s footer. Turning analytics off stops analytics cookies and events. Turning Scheduling off stops the Calendly calendar from loading; cookies Calendly already set stay on calendly.com until you clear them in your browser.
If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a standing opt-out of analytics.
What we don’t use
No Google Analytics, no advertising cookies, no third-party tracking pixels, and no selling of data derived from cookies.
